Emily Congdon
Vice President, Performance Improvement

As Vice President of Performance Improvement for Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian, Emily Congdon serves as a key leader in the Clinical Excellence area. Her responsibilities include developing, directing and implementing performance plans for the clinical areas of the hospital. Additional responsibilities include scorecard development to assure appropriate outcomes and measuring performance in Quality, Safety, Patient Satisfaction and Value. She also oversees the identification of improvement plans for Hoag, incorporating the mission, vision and values for the organization and regulatory requirements.

Ms. Congdon holds administrative responsibilities for the Performance Improvement Team, Clinical Analytics, Patient Safety /Regulatory Compliance, Case Management/Utilization Review, Medical Library and the Medical Staff Office.

Since joining Hoag in March 2007, her focus has been expanding the skill of the Performance Improvement (PI) Team to align more closely with the Centers of Excellence and Service Line. The PI Teams’ competencies include a strong base in process improvement and data analytics with Nursing, Industrial Engineering and Project Management background.

Prior to joining Hoag, Ms. Congdon served as an Administrative Director of Performance Improvement, Risk Management, Medical Staff, Infection Control and Regulatory Compliance for a healthcare system in Florida. Emily has over 16 years of experience in performance improvement as an accomplished change agent in developing successful performance improvement solutions to several healthcare organizations throughout the country.

Ms. Congdon earned a BSN from Cornell University and is currently a member of the National Association for Healthcare Quality.
