Steven R. Ey, M.D.

Hoag Chemical Dependency Recovery Center
Dr. Steven R. Ey graduated medical school from UCLA in 1992. He then completed a three-year Family Practice residency at Kaiser Hospital and a one-year fellowship in Addiction Medicine through Loma Linda University. Dr. Ey has been Board Certified in Family Medicine since 1995 and Certified by the American Society of Addiction Medicine since 1996. In 2003, he became a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine, one of only approximately 250 physicians to receive that distinction in the United States.
Dr. Ey joined Hoag Hospital as the Medical Director of the Chemical Dependency Recovery Center in October 2006. Over the past ten years, he has served as Medical Director at the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, California and at South Coast Medical Center in Laguna Beach, California.
Dr. Ey has been increasingly involved with the California Society of Addiction Medicine (CSAM) and is a former director on the CSAM Executive Council. He also serves on the CSAM Education Committee and has chaired the planning committee for the 2000 and 2002 Review Course. He has lectured on Alcoholism and other areas of Addiction Medicine throughout the United States. Dr. Ey lives with his wife and daughter.

Bonnie brings more than 25 years of nursing experience to her position as the leader of nursing care at the Chemical Dependency Recovery Center. She began her addiction nursing career in 1983 at the Genesis Unit in Laguna Beach, California. She earned her Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor credential (CADC II) in 1986. Bonnie began her tenure at Hoag in 1994 and has been instrumental in the Center's earning superior marks from the Joint Commission in survey after survey, as well as serving on the leadership team when Hoag achieved Magnet Nursing status in 2005. She is a member of the International Nurses' Society on Addictions, from which she gains a global perspective on the problems of substance dependence and is a passionate advocate for holistic recovery - body, mind and spirit.
