Mary & Dick Allen Diabetes Center strives to become the “go to” community resource for diabetes in the community, for the general public as well as for health care professionals. Current activities include:
- Hoag Annual Diabetes Conference for Health Care Professionals
- Orange County Collaborative Conference on diabetes for health care professionals and the general community (in collaboration with CHOC Children's Hospital, UCI Medical Center and Saddleback Hospital)
- Internship rotations for MPH students from UCI
- Internship placements for a broad array of other health care professionals, including dietitians, social workers, and pharmacists.

The Mary & Dick Allen Diabetes Center works closely with local universities, pharmaceutical & device manufacturers to develop new methods & technologies for treating diabetes effectively.
