When I started as a new grad, I found Hoag's environment to be friendly and structured with lots of support, which is very conducive to a new grads learning process. The support from educators and preceptors took the fear of making a mistake away and put my energy into learning.
I continue to stay at Hoag because of the professional environment, excellence in patient care, flexibility in scheduling and encouragement of professional growth. I am currently enrolled in the BSN program offered onsite at Hoag. Last but not least, I find the Gynecological Urological Unit a delightful place to be because of co-workers who are hardworking, compassionate, and are great team players. They also find time to enjoy a good laugh in the process.

Working at Hoag Hospital has been the most rewarding experience of my career. I am proud that Hoag offers a superbly qualified staff of physicians, nurses and support personnel. Beyond Hoags excellent reputation for the treatment of their patients, they treat their employees just as well. Hoag provides excellent compensation for the nursing staff while allowing flexible scheduling and an on site MSN program. Hoag is a unique institution whose success is based on high priority to both patient and employee.

For any nurse, training is key to success and Hoag supplied me with the tools for this. In addition to training, for a nurse to be successful they must be surrounded by individuals who share the same attitude and beliefs in the work environment. I have found this in the employees at Hoag. The staff is friendly, professional, compassionate, unselfish, and everyone comes together as a team to provide the best patient care available.
I feel Hoag Hospital is superior in their desire to help nurses reach their goals and accomplish their dreams. Hoag is a bold and progressive hospital, and I cant say enough about the positive contribution working here has added to my life.

I came to Hoag 3 1/2 years ago as a new nurse. I am very passionate and dedicated to nursing. Hoag Hospital gave me an opportunity to grow professionally. I have taken on many roles. I am a relief charge nurse, I precept new nurses and nurses new to Hoag. I've also had the opportunity to be a service excellence advisor, and teach about testicular cancer in the new graduate class. I did obtain a certification in Oncology Nursing. Last but not least, I was the treasurer for the Orange County Nursing Society.
Hoag Hospital is an awesome place to work. Once upon a time I was a new, learning nurse at Hoag, and now I have grown to be a well-trained and experienced nurse.

I choose Hoag because I had the opportunity to join a hospital that is free standing. Hoag management works closely with employees to create a working environment where employees feel they have the respect, resources, and support to not only do their jobs well, but enjoy their working environment.
My transition from a new graduate to an independent RN was made easy and smooth via a five-week new-grad program. The program was balanced with classroom work combined with a preceptor program. My preceptor was truly wonderful and I have endless respect and gratitude for the patience and guidance she showed me. Most importantly, I was able to decide when I was ready to start working on my own. I never had the feeling of being rushed to handle an independent assignment until I knew I was ready.
Hoag shows its appreciation to its employees. The other day, I was thinking about what I loved best about Hoag; its not the good salary, benefits, and fun extras that keep me at Hoag (although they are very nice), its the people I work with who continue to surprise me with their consistent help and support. Its the feeling that I am never alone when I need help or am having a very busy night. Its the feeling of family. Most importantly, it is the endless resources and structure that allow me to give the very best patient care I can. I am able to do my job well and practice what I am passionate about: nursing.

Moving across the country from New York to Southern California was a huge change for me, and I couldn't have dreamed of being welcomed by a more supportive group of people. My family at Hoag really helped me with this huge transition. It is so stimulating to work in an institution that caters to nurses the way in which Hoag does. It truly is a unique place! I work on an extremely diverse unit, of which our care is aimed at several different patient populations. For me, it has been a wonderfully challenging experience that has given me the potential to explore countless opportunities in this great profession.

I went to the new grad open house at Hoag. It was the best decision I ever made. I was very impressed with the Hoag administration and staff that attended and encouraged us to talk to the various managers and charge nurses.
I began the new grad program shortly after graduation, and would encourage anyone who is debating to begin this program, to do it as soon as you can.
Hoag has all of the things that are important to me. I believe in the nursing philosophy and support that is given to the nursing staff and really enjoy working with a group of nurses that are a cut above the rest. I am extremely proud to be a part of the Hoag nursing family.

I came to Hoag Hospital as a student in my final year of nursing school and I was so impressed that I never left! Hoag is such a wonderful place to work. I have been here for five years now and have progressed from a student to a relief charge nurse. Hoag has been such a positive environment for me both professionally and personally, and I am so proud to be a member of this outstanding nursing team.
