Coronary Calcium Detection,
Using CT Scan: Is It right for You?

A new imaging procedure called Ultrafast CT provides a noninvasive way to spot blocked arteries. The Ultrafast CT takes fast pictures, producing a very accurate depiction of the amount of calcium in the coronary arteries. The amount of calcium in the coronary arteries can be a marker for the presence of coronary artery disease. Studies show that the CT technique is a good method of screening or detecting coronary artery disease (CAD) and may help physicians and patients tailor a prevention or treatment plan.
