Child Care Center
The Kathryn C. Fishback Child Care Center opened in 1991 on the Hoag Hospital campus. Built specifically for Hoag employees, the center is open from 6 a.m.-8 p.m. to accommodate the varied work schedules of hospital staff. The center currently includes five classrooms with amenities for children ages six weeks through six years and is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
As Hoag has grown from a small community hospital to a leading medical center, the number of employees that work at Hoag has grown proportionately. There is a need for a larger child care facility to accommodate more children and a growing need for facilities to support children over the age of six.
Hoag will open a new and expanded child care center that will meet the needs of the hospital's employees at the end of 2006. The center will increase to nine classrooms and square footage will jump from 7,100 to 12,000. The new center will look like a traditional school with classroom space that opens to a community courtyard, age-appropriate playgrounds and a larger multi-purpose space to accommodate parent education and events.
The new center will have capacity for 152 children, accommodating after school and summer programs for elementary school age children through twelve years old.
The new child care center is another example of why there is no place like Hoag. Providing trusted child care is just one example of Hoag's commitment to employees and their families.
