Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian is dedicated to creating the best experience possible for our patients. This Patient/Visitor information area provides information to help you and those close to you during a hospital stay. Please refer to the maps inside this section to help guide you through the hospital.
General Information
The Information Desk is located inside the main entrance. Attendants are available to assist with room direction and other information.
Visiting Hours
We understand the importance of visitors for our patients' emotional, mental and spiritual well-being. Family, friends and clergy may visit during the hours listed below. Please be advised, visitors may be asked by staff to leave, especially if a patient needs rest. Any visitor with symptoms or signs of a communicable illness or disease should not visit the hospital. Also, due to infection control guidelines, children under a certain age may not visit specific areas, as indicated below.
General Medical/Surgical Units
Mother/Baby Unit
Labor and Delivery Unit
- Visiting hours are open.
- Visitors are limited to five people at a time.
- Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult that is not the birthing partner or patient.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
- Parents are welcome from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
- Visitors and siblings of the newborn under 16 years old may visit from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., but must be accompanied by one parent. (There is a limit of two persons at a time).
Critical Care (ICU/CCU/CVICU/Sub ICU)
- Visiting hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
Chemical Dependency
- Family and friends are welcome from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sundays and from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.
Parking
Visitors are welcome to use the Visitor/Dolphin parking structure located at the main entrance of the hospital. Complimentary valet parking is available to provide convenient access.
Lounges
There are several lounges throughout the hospital. Please see the floor map to find an appropriate lounge. Family and friends of those having surgery may want to stay in the surgery lounge located next to the Courtyard Café on the first floor of the main hospital.
Patient Billing
A customer service representative is available to answer specific financial questions or to receive a payment Monday through Friday in the lobby of the Women's Pavilion.
Concerns or Questions
If there is a concern regarding patient care, please notify the caregiver or a supervisor. Patient Relations representatives can assist with patient rights, problems or concerns, interpretation of hospital policy and procedure, or lost items. Th e Patient Relations staff is available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday at 949/764-8220. If you need immediate assistance after regular business hours, contact the charge nurse or nurse supervisor. They can be reached by calling the hospital operator at 949/764-HOAG (4624).
Telephones/Cellular Phones
Cell phones and pagers may be used in the hospital except in the critical care areas (ICU, CCU, CVICU and Sub ICU).
Smoking
The Hoag Campus is smoke-free - no smoking is allowed.
Health Resource Center
The health resource center offers up-to-date health information via books, medical journals and computers equipped with Internet access. The library is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is located on the main floor across from the Courtyard Café.
Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs)
ATMs are available in the convenience center in the cafeteria and on the main floor next to the Health Resource Center.
US Mail Drops
US Mail drop boxes and stamp machines are located at the main entrance of the hospital and in the convenience center.
Short-Term Lodging
There are several nearby hotels and short-term lodging facilities in Newport Beach. Contact the Newport Beach Conference and Visitors Bureau at 800/942-6278, if you need assistance. Family members of patients at Hoag Hospital can also receive a special rate at some of the local hotels. You can obtain a list at the Admitting and Information desks.
