Promoting Medication Safety in the Community
Having multiple medications to track can often be an overwhelming task. In an effort to promote medication safety, Hoag Hospital is offering free medication cards to the community. The card enables you to write down all of your medications in one place to help you better track your dosages and times. Should you require hospitalization, a medication card can help prevent medication errors and/or allergic reactions during a hospital stay. The card is also important in the event of an emergency to help inform emergency medical personnel about the medication you must receive. The card conveniently folds to fit in your wallet or purse.
“The more you know about the medications you use, the more confident you can be that you’re taking them safely,” states Neil Barth, M.D., chief of staff. “Our goal with this campaign is to raise awareness among our patient community about medication safety, starting with the distribution of these medication cards.”
