Hand Rehabilitation

The Hand

Our hands enable us to perform simple and intricate tasks in almost all work, home and leisure activities. Since we use them all day long, it is important that we receive the best care to recover from any hand injury, surgery or medical condition affecting the hand or arm.

Rehabilitation

Hoag Hospital's Occupational Therapy department offers a specialized hand rehabilitation program that is directed by a certified hand therapist. The occupational therapy team works closely with the physician, patient and family to provide evaluation and treatment.

Treatment Goals

The goal of rehabilitation is to restore functional use of the hand, returning the person to independence in self-care activities. Early intervention is a critical link in achieving recovery, both in terms of successful healing and regaining hand function.
