Hoag Breast Care Center Annual Breast Symposium
The 2009 Breast Symposium, Breast Cancer: An Integrated 21st Century Approach, will focus on the dramatic changes that have occurred in breast cancer diagnosis and treatment since the turn of the century. We will explore the latest in diagnostic tools, including digital mammography, tomosynthesis, breast MRI, PET and gamma scanning – all of which allow breast cancer to be diagnosed in its earliest and most treatable forms. We’ll also discuss hormonal replacement therapy, the sexual ramifications of breast cancer, fertility preservation, and the latest surgical and radiotherapeutic approaches. Special guest Richard Bender, M.D. will discuss molecular profiling in breast cancer and how it directs treatment. To conclude the morning, our expert multidisciplinary panel will provide an interactive discussion of complex breast cancer cases.
