Upon entering
the new Sue
and Bill Gross
Women's
Pavilion,
patients might
feel as if they've
mistakenly
walked into
the lobby of a beautiful hotel. With garden views,
visitor information centers, registration and
a spacious "living room," the first floor of the
Women's Pavilion warmly welcomes patients and
their families to Hoag Hospital.
In addition to general patient administration
and visitor resources, the first floor features Hoag
Breast Care Center. This center is Orange County's
first and only diagnostic and screening center to
offer direct digital mammography services and a
dedicated breast MRI program.
Also located on the first floor in the hospitality
area across from the cafe, is the health resource
center. Created for on-site patient education and
information, this resource center provides Internet
capabilities, giving patients and their families
immediate access to medical and healthcare
information when they need it the most.
With an estimated
nine percent increase
in outpatient surgeries
expected in Orange County between now and the year 2009, Hoag's
new Ambulatory Surgery and Procedure Center
is poised and ready to accommodate this growing
healthcare need.
|
Designated for outpatient services only,
(ambulatory - meaning capable of walking or not
needing over night hospitalization), this state-ofthe-
art surgical center includes six operating suites
and a dedicated GI Lab with seven procedure
rooms. By consolidating its outpatient services into
one area, Hoag will now be able to offer a broader
range of advanced surgical and procedural services
all conveniently located under one roof.
For any hospital, bed space is one of the most vital
components in meeting the healthcare needs of its
community.
Beautifully decorated in ocean blues and sand
tones, the third and fourth floors each contain 41
private patient rooms. Each room includes its own
restroom, shower and a spacious sitting area for
family and friends.
Additionally, the third floor provides preoperative
and post-surgery recovery for short-stay surgical
patients, as well as same-day services and a
catheterization lab. Th e fourth floor cares for
patients who require a longer hospital stay, and
includes a satellite pharmacy to efficiently support
their recovery needs. The fourth floor also houses
the gynecology and urology departments of
Hoag Hospital.
The fifth floor
includes 18 LDR
suites, three
operating rooms
for Cesarean
sections, and
a seven-bed
antepartum unit for women with pre-delivery risk.
The new LDR rooms are easily converted from
a comfortable, spacious living area with ocean
views to state-of-the-art delivery rooms. Measuring
approximately 425 square-feet, each room includes
a private bath and shower, as well as home-like
|
amenities including a dining table and chairs,
a couch-turned-daybed, a television and
Internet access.
The sixth floor
houses a 5,000
square-foot NICU with 21 bassinets; seven
postpartum rooms; an expansive fetal diagnostics
and neonatology service area; a five-pod centralized
nursing station, an isolation room; an exam room
and specially designated parent and family areas.
These family areas are designed to accommodate
parents and families during this very personal time
and include an overnight room, lockers, lounges
and kitchen facilities.
Adding to the comprehensive mix of maternity and
women's health services at the Sue and Bill Gross
Women's Pavilion, the sixth floor is also home
to Southern California's first Women's Wellness
Center. Scheduled to open in January 2006, the
Women's Wellness Center will provide a broad
range of health services for early disease detection
and prevention, as well as treatment programs for
women of all ages.
The seventh and final floor of the Sue and Bill
Gross Women's Pavilion is an expansive Mother
and Baby Postpartum unit with 42 private rooms
and a 28-bassinet nursery. All of the postpartum
rooms provide overnight accommodations for birth
partners and families, and are equipped for couplet
care, where babies room-in with their mothers.
Like the LDR rooms, the postpartum rooms are
spatially and aesthetically designed for family
bonding and comfort, as well as providing the
highest level of medical care.
