Check In
Laboring women should report directly to the Labor and Delivery area on the fifth floor of the Sue and Bill Gross Women's Pavilion. Take the East Elevators to the fifth floor and check in at the admitting desk.
Labor, Delivery and Recovery, 5th Floor
The fifth floor includes 18 Labor, Delivery and Recovery (LDR) suites, three operating rooms for Cesarean sections, and a seven-bed antepartum unit for women with pre-delivery risk. The new LDR rooms are easily converted from a comfortable, spacious living area with ocean views to state-of-the-art delivery rooms. Measuring approximately 425 square-feet, each room includes a private bath and shower, as well as home-like amenities including a dining table and chairs, a couch-turned-daybed, a television and Internet access. The rooms also feature a state-of-the-art infant care area - enabling baby to remain in mother's room.
Postpartum, 7th Floor
The seventh floor is an expansive Mother and Baby Postpartum unit with 42 private rooms and a 28-bassinet nursery. All of the postpartum rooms provide overnight accommodations for birth partners and families, and are equipped for couplet care, where babies room-in with their mothers. Like the LDR rooms, the postpartum rooms are spatially and aesthetically designed for family bonding and comfort, as well as providing the highest level of medical care.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, 6th Floor
The sixth floor houses a 5,000 square-foot Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with 21 bassinets; seven postpartum rooms designed to accommodate moms who have babies in the NICU; an expansive Outpatient Fetal Diagnostics Center and neonatology service area. The NICU unit is a 21-bed unit specially designated for babies requiring closer observation and more intensive care. The unit features five pod areas with a centralized nursing station, an isolation room, exam room and specially designated parent and family areas designed to accommodate parents and families during this very personal time and include an overnight room, lockers, lounges and kitchen facilities.
